As we draw closer to God, His purpose and will for us becomes clearer. His nature and ability is revealed through who He is and these Old Testament names reveal this clearly to us:

ELOHIM - God, the Creator (Gen 1:1-3)

JEHOVAH - The Great I AM (Exo 6:1-4)

EL SHADDAI - Almighty God who is more than enough (Gen 17: 1-19)

ADONAI - The Lord and Master (Isa 29:13 & Rom 12:1-2)

JEHOVAH JIREH - Our Provider (Luke 11:28)

JEHOVAH RAPHA - Our Healer (Exo 15:22-27)

JEHOVAH NISSI - Our Banner over us (Exo 17:15)

JEHOVAH MEKADDESH - Our Sanctifier (Exo 31:13)

JEHOVAH SHALOM - God our peace (2 Thess 3:16)

JEHOVAH TSIDKENU - Our Righteousness (Jer 23:5-6)

JEHOVAH RAAH - The Lord our Shepherd (Psa 23)

JEHOVAH SHAMMAH - Our ever-present Lord (Ezk 48:3)

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,

for whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the Lord,

which made heaven and earth.

He will not suffer thy foot to be moved:

he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
