Praying for the nations of the world is our responsibility, in addition to praying for our families and friends. Pray for those in authority. The reason is that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all Godliness and honesty. This is good and peaceable in the sight of God. The ultimate reason, and most importantly, is that all men come to know His saving grace.
"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come." Matthew 24:14 [NKJV]
Use the prayer of intercession. Praying for the nation will mean interceding against the powers of darkness (Genesis 18:20-23; Matthew 5:13). The Helper (Holy Spirit) must be involved in your intercession at all times (Daniel 10:1-21)
"Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them." 2 Corinthians 4:4 [NKJV]
The church must become relevant in a world that's tainted by sin. If we live double standards, then we can't expect the Truth in Christ, and His grace and peace to permeate society. Plant your seed prayerfully, be faithful and the Lord will bring the harvest.
