"Then Jesus spoke to them again saying, 'I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.' John 8:12 [NKJV]
When you were born again, you took on the likeness of Jesus. Your recreated nature should be a testimomy to those around you. Jesus uses the analogy of "salt" and "light" [Matthew 5:13-16]
Salt is used in many applications. It preserves - it prevents decay and corruption. Salt is used as medication; it heals and cleanses. Christians have the solution to the world's problems. Quote God's Word. Just as salt adds flavour, so should you. Be a blessing to those around you and let them see the joy of the Lord in you. Be willing to go the extra mile. Salt stings when placed on an open wound. The Church should be the moral conscience of society without being judgemental.
"For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light." Ephesians 5:8 [NKJV]
Light destroys darkness and changes circumstances. The Bible records the deeds of men who, through being the salt and light, changed their world. [Ephesians 5:13-14]
Salt and light are unique and cannot be disguised or mistaken for something else, yet they stand out. We're called to be seperate, not isolated; we should be prominent in a crowd.
