When we walk close to the Shepherd, we're assured of protection, provision and victory over evil. The Holy Spirit is the rod (of authority) used to overcome the enemy and staff to comfort and guide us. Imagine the security we have in Him; we can dine in the midst of turmoil because He's our source of peace.
The Holy Spirit is your Comforter and anoints you for service [John 14:16-17; Isaiah 35:10]. In your loneliness, your companions are goodness and mercy; they shall uphold you. Eternity is your reward.
"But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: 'Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you." Isaiah 43:1-2 [NKJV]
"Where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I make the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me." Psalm 139:7-10 [NKJV]
The ever-present God stepped briefly into our segment of time so that we could step into His timelessness.
