Sometimes we remain trapped in our past because the devil lulls us into complacency. He knows that as long as we feel condemned and worthless, we won't fulfill God's purpose.
"But to Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God - and righteousness and sanctification and redemption." 1 Cor 1:30 [NKJV]
As a child of God, you are made righteous and are able to stand in His presence, justified (just as if you've never sinned) without condemnation. You have God's authority and power and have been blessed [Ephesians 1:3]. When you were born-again, you became an instant heir of the Kingdom, blessed to be a blessing.
"Long, long ago He decided to adopt us into His family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure He took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of His lavish gift giving by hand of His beloved Son. Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, His blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we're free people - free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either, abundantly free!" Ephesians 1:5-7 [MSG]
Walk in your God-given liberty; wear your cloak of righteousness with dignity.
