Prov 29:23 (NIV) "Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor"

Both Humility and pride carry divine promises. There are many who are obsessed with themselves. Ego and vanity will trip you up and bring shame. Portraying a false humility is equally dangerous.

However, true humility begins and ends with complete dependence on God. He honours humility (Rom. 8:29-32). Humility is the ability to receive that which we don't deserve without becoming puffed up and arrogant. Remember when a peacock displays its magnificent plumage, you don't see its ugly feet! Many hide behind a facade of good works but deny God's power.

Humility is the ability to lose all and still know who you are in Christ. Our self worth is not based on anything else but Jesus. Humility desires to be the best that God wants you to be and not somebody else! Pride produces competition but humility is security in God. Actually, because you're a child of the Most High God, the Jones' should feel insecure and should try to keep up with you. We should be causing peer pressure for the Kingdom!

True humility is obedience to God (Phil. 2:6-11; Isa 1:19,20). Jesus was highly exalted because of His humility and obedience.
