Overcoming Deception

Deception has many faces and is difficult to recognise. It can fit into one's lifestyle without being obvious. That's why it's often difficult to counsel certain people because they can't identify the area in which they are being deceived. Wrong teachings, culture and tradition and stubbornness compound the matter.
People don't act on God's Word and deceive themselves (James 1:22-26). God has ordained healing, love, deliverance etc but the "spiritual giant" thinks its for others (Luke 6:46-49). Another area of deception is questioning the integrity of God's Word (Philippian 4:19; Genesis 3:1-12).
Misquoting scripture or taking it out of context for convenience is the devil's tool (Luke 4:10-11; Psalm 91:11). Walk upright before God and align yourself with His principles.
Know the power of the Word, meditate on it and know how to apply it to your life. This will be your most valuable asset in your Christian walk. Use scripture to confirm what God is saying to you. Don't judge scripture against your experiences but judge your experiences against the Word of God. Walk in love, humble yourself and have a teachable spirit.
"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
