Psalm 96:1-13 is the mandate given to the church. The spread of the Gospel is attributed to the truths recorded in this Psalm.
The reality of the new creation is highlighted in verse 1: "Sing unto the Lord a new song." A new, recreated life is a prerequisite of the Kingdom. When the Kingdom is within us, then only can we live it out. God reveals His mysteries to His saints. (Colossians 1:26-27; Galatians 2:20).
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever." Hebrews 13:8 [NKJV]
Jesus is alive and His message of deliverance is still relevant today. God's Word, your two-edged sword, still changes lives. Needs are met through the power of the Gospel. Many have been preaching historical truth, but an army is being raised that's preaching pertinent and vital truth. All believers should be should be demonstrating His power today. (1 Thessalonians 1:5; 1 Corinthians 2:4-5).
"Declare His glory among the people" (Psalm 96:3). Truth will always demonstrate His glory and power. If we can't demonstrate it, then we shouldn't preach it (Mark 16:15-20; Luke 9:1-2).
In these last days, more will be done outside the church building than in it! Yes, it's important to come together to praise and worship and hear the Word preached - these are the times when we receive encouragement and strength, but real action, of leading others to Christ should be happening outside the church.
